Wheelchair Basketball

Wheelchair basketball is a fast-paced, hard-hitting, competitive sport played by two teams where the object is to shoot the ball into the opposing team’s basket. Every team is comprised of five players and seven substitutes.

The basic rules of wheelchair basketball are very similar to stand-up or able-bodied basketball. For example, the court dimensions, the height of the basket and the distance to the foul and three point lines, etc., are the same measurements as in the game of stand-up basketball. In 1964, basic international rules were adopted which included minor adjustments to meet the needs of the game in a wheelchair.

Amputee Football

Amputee football is a disabled sport played with seven players on each team (six outfield players and one goalkeeper). Outfield players have lower extremity amputations, and goalkeepers have an upper extremity amputation. Outfield players use loftstrand (forearm) crutches, and play without their prosthesis.

Wheelchair Tennis

Wheelchair Tennis was founded in 1976 and is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world. Wheelchair Tennis integrates very easily with the able-bodied game since it can be played on any regular tennis court, with no modifications to the size of the court or the size of rackets or balls.

The game follows traditional tennis rules, with the only exception being that the Wheelchair Tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball.
