The stakeholders have since signed a Negotiated Agreement on the Management and Organization of the African Games, marking a significant milestone in the planning of the 13th games. The signing took place on February 19th, 2023, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As part of the agreement, the stakeholders have agreed to establish a Technical Committee to be chaired by H.E Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma, Commissioner of Health, Humanitarian and Social Development, while the President of ANOCA, Mr Mustapha Berraf, and the President of AASC, Major General Nasser, will serve as Vice-Chairpersons.

However, due to the adverse impact of the impasse on the games’ timelines, the stakeholders have decided to schedule a new date for the 13th African Games. The LOC, in collaboration with all the stakeholders, will be conducting a series of consultations from Thursday 23rd February 2023 to Monday 27th February 2023 to schedule a new date and set timelines. A report would be submitted to the President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by 5th March 2023.
The Executive Chairman of the LOC, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, at the Press Conference expressed immense gratitude to the President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for His commitment and dedication to the 13th African Games, especially in resolving the impasse. He added that the successful signing of the Negotiated Agreement is a significant step forward in ensuring the successful organization of the 13th African Games.
This announcement brings hope to sports fans across Africa who have been eagerly waiting for the games to take place. More updates on the new date for the games will be provided as soon as the consultations are concluded.
